Cosmetology License Requirements in Idaho

State-licensed Idaho beauty schools and cosmetology schools provide a broad education that not only prepares students for examination but also for work as a cosmetologist or personal appearance professional. Like all States, Idaho requires cosmetologists and certain other personal appearance workers to be licensed. The licensure requirements in Idaho are:

  • Cosmetologist: 2000 classroom hours, 4000 apprenticeship hours
  • Esthetician: 600 classroom hours, 1200 apprenticeship hours
  • Nail Technician: 400 classroom hours, 800 apprenticeship hours

In addition, you should also meet the following requirements to earn a license from Idaho beauty or cosmetology schools:

  • Pass a written or practical exam
  • Applicants must be at least 16 and a half years of age
  • Applicants must have completed two years of high school or its equivalent
