Cosmetology License Requirements in North-dakota

North Dakota includes several career tracks under the professional cosmetology label: manicurist, esthetician and electrologist. The barber designation is its own professional licensure. When you graduate from one of the North Dakota skin care schools, North Dakota beauty schools, or North Dakota barber schools, you should complete the following requirements for professional licensing.

  • Cosmetologist. Take a 1,800-hour cosmetology course, pass a State Board exam, and pay all application and exam fees.
  • Manicurist. Take a 350-hour cosmetology course, pass a State Board exam, and pay all application and exam fees.
  • Esthetician. Complete a 600-hour cosmetology course, pass a State Board exam, and pay all application and exam fees.
  • Electrologist. Complete a school of cosmetology course, pass a State Board exam, and pay all application and exam fees
  • Barber. Be at least 17, graduate from a Board-approved school of barbering, and pass a Board-approved exam.
