What to Expect From Nevada's Beauty Schools

As a student enrolled in one of Nevada's beauty schools, your coursework will, of course, include hands-on training in hair styling, hair coloring, manicure/pedicure treatments, skin care, hair removal, and perhaps even massage. But you'll also learn anatomy, biology, and chemistry, and the science behind beauty.

When you're done, you'll take an exam in order to become a fully licensed cosmetologist. Then several exciting careers await you. Aside from that of hair stylist or barber, nail technicians (manicurists/pedicurists) are greatly in demand, as are skin care specialists (also called aestheticians), and make-up artists. Together, cosmetologist jobs are expected to grow faster than average (14 percent) through 2016, with nail tech, skin care specialist, and make-up artist jobs each growing even faster.
